Changing Sandy – Help those affected by Hurricane Sandy

P.S. 14 is located in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, a stone’s throw from Long Island Sound. There are approximately 600 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Slightly more than half of these students receive some sort of public assistance.

The Changing Sandy Project came about when Mrs. Noelle Gold, a fourth-grade teacher at the school, felt an intense need to do something to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The storm heavily damaged the area around the school, leaving thousands without power or heat for days. Many families were forced to relocate to evacuation shelters and businesses have struggled to continue to serve the community.
